The launch of Reveal Los Angeles, a fashion show planned as a rival to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, has been postponed to October 2009 due to the economy, according to a spokeswoman for the show.
“It’s just the state of affairs in the fashion industry. The economy has hit us all very hard in one way or another,” said Margaret Schell, speaking on behalf of Reveal. “But we’re thinking positively and gearing up for October.”
Reveal Los Angeles, produced by Massachusetts-based IDG World Expo, was supposed to launch in March during the first of two annual market weeks. The launch will take place over three days during October’s market week.
The most recent Fashion Week, a longtime collaboration between the Davis and Dean Factor-owned Smashbox Studios in Culver City and New York’s IMG World, took place in October, IMG has since ended the relationship. The Factors said they would continue the show on their own.
