Emissions control
MORE areas of the city will be off-limits to vehicles without green labels, certificates indicating the emissions of a vehicle meet national standards, from Jan. 1.
According to an announcement by the city government Wednesday, these vehicles will not be allowed on roads in Luohu, Futian, Nanshan, Bao an and Longgang districts, such as Sungang Road East, Shennan Boulevard, Shangbu Road Central, Xinzhou Road, Nanhai Boulevard, Bao an Boulevard and Longxiang Boulevard from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
More complaints
THE number of complaints about automobile consumption increased from 182 last year to 238 this year, an increase of 31 percent, the city s consumer council said Wednesday. Most complaints were related to quality, price, maintenance and purchase contracts for cars.
Hiking track
A HIKING track in Xiaomeisha, Yantian District, will open before the Spring Festival on Feb. 2, and the entire 19.5 kilometers was expected to open in mid-2011, according to the Yantian District Government on Wednesday
The Xiaomeisha section of 1.5 kilometers runs from the Dameisha Coastguard Port to the Xiaomeisha Seaside Holiday Resort.
Rabies vaccines
PRICES of domestically produced rabies vaccines would not be increased and health authorities had declared the vaccines safe, the city center for disease control and prevention (CDC) said Wednesday.
Imported rabies vaccines sold out in the city recently and many residents worried that the CDC could increase prices of domestically produced vaccines.
