New trains
SHENZHEN Railway Station will operate new long-distance trains to Nanjing, Jinggangshan in Jiangxi and Huaihua in Hunan from Jan. 11.
The train to Nanjing will depart Shenzhen at 12:33 p.m., to Jinggangshan at 6:55 p.m. and to Huaihua at 6:42 p.m. year-round, the railway station said.
Outbound peak
SHEKOU Checkpoint has reported an increase in the number of outbound foreign travelers with Christmas around the corner. On Monday, the number of daily outbound foreigners was about 30 percent more than on normal days.
Foreign travelers favored Shekou Checkpoint because of the direct ferry route to Hong Kong International Airport.
Land sale
THE Yantian District Government has sold a 310,000-sqm plot of land in central Shatoujiao to real estate developer Vanke for 3 billion yuan (US$450 million).
Vanke will develop office buildings, business apartments, five-star hotels and other commercial projects on the land.
Sea tour
CITIZENS aged between 6 and 70 can call 8390-0011 to apply to board a coastal patrol vessel Dec. 29 to visit port areas and ship repair facilities in Shenzhen.
The one-day tour has been organized by the Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration.
Smuggled laptops
HUANGGANG Customs seized 20 smuggled laptops worth around 100,000 yuan which were allegedly found in an inbound car Monday, the department said yesterday.
Investigations are continuing.
