NANSHAN Subdistrict in Nanshan District has introduced steam cleaners from Germany to clean illegal advertisements and posters in urban villages discharging steam under high pressure, a Shenzhen Economic Daily report said.
The subdistrict office spent 170,000 yuan (US$25,545) buying seven steam cleaners for five urban villages.
With at least a 10-year service life, each machine can complete a daily workload equivalent to 15 people, costing around 130 yuan each day, said the subdistrict urban management office.
The daily labor cost is around 1,500 yuan.
It took only a few minutes to clear away more than 30 illegal posters, which would have taken a sanitation worker over 150 minutes, the paper said.
The Nanshan Subdistrict has cleared away a total of 80,000 illegal posters since introducing the steam cleaners.
