MIGRANT workers can apply before March 1 for vocational training subsidies of up to 1,200 yuan (US$181) depending on their training certificate levels, according to a policy implemented by the city s labor resources and social security administration Friday.
Applicants must have signed at least one-year labor contracts with employers, paid social insurance and met the administration s requirements for a vocational qualification certificate. The policy specifies detailed principles, standards and procedures of the training subsidies.
Individuals can apply to the administration or any of the 11 technical appraisal venues in the city. Their employers can also apply for the subsidies to the administration or at district branches. For enterprise applicants, the results would be based on a points system involving their employee training situation, taxes paid and the number of migrant workers applying for the subsidies.
The more points a company has, the quicker it would receive subsidies. Large enterprises, high-tech companies and those with approved harmonious labor relations would be given additional points.
