TRAFFIC police prosecuted 50 offenses in a crackdown Friday night and the early hours of Saturday.

The offenses involved drinking and driving and illegal parking.

A drunk driver, who tried to escape three times after being stopped by police, will be held in detention for 15 days. He was also fined 3,000 yuan (US$455) and had 12 points deducted from his driving license.

The drunk driver, Lin, was found to have 212 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, more than double the level to define drunk driving.

Another offender, Su, illegally parked his car on an auxiliary road on Fuqiang Road in Futian District on Friday night, causing a traffic jam.
