THE traffic authority in Longgang District has called on motorists to slow down on Shenhui Road, where five people have died in five separate traffic accidents since the road opened Jan. 3.
The new 36-kilometer section has done away with traffic congestion and shortened the travel time between Buji Checkpoint and the Shuanglong Metro station to about 50 minutes, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Saturday.
The speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour was largely being ignored with jaywalkers creating more dangerous situations because footbridges in some areas were still under construction.
Besides, auxiliary roads and other supporting facilities in some areas have not been completed. (Li Hao)
