A COMEDY produced by a young man in Bao an District was released in Dalang Subdistrict recently, attracting hundreds of migrant workers and neighbors for a free viewing.

Produced and directed by Huang Huijun, a staff member at the Dalang Culture and Sports Center, the movie, Street Love Leave Me Alone, was a zero-cost production and the actors in the movie were either Huang s colleagues or migrant workers from nearby factories.

The 59-minute movie, which is being aired every day at the center for free, is a love story set in Shenzhen, featuring daily life with humor, exaggerated movements and funny faces, Huang, 26, said.

It is a very nice and funny local movie. All the scenes are the places we are familiar with and the actors are our colleagues. I never thought they had such a sense of humor and talent in making fun, a staff member from the center, identified as Chen, said.

A Shenzhen Polytechnic graduate, Huang is a movie buff and started writing plays in junior high school. I particularly like making movies and have always liked making short videos written by myself. Although I don t have professional equipment for filming or making a movie, I m still proud of my creativity and hard work, he said.

Huang came up with the idea to make the movie to promote youth culture and inspire creativity in the neighborhood. We had a lot of culture and sports venues for migrant workers, but they often stay at home. So I decided to make the movie with colleagues and air it at our center so that they can spend more spare time here, he said.

Huang invited his colleagues, Zhong Huanhuan and Ning Lizhu, and even his superiors to star in the movie. They started filming in September and production took nearly three months. We were lucky we did not have to spend anything on sets or costumes, he said.

The movie was first aired Dec. 23, but only 30 workers turned up. Now we have 100 people every day and a survey shows they like it, so we plan to make more of these movies in the future, inviting more migrant workers to join in the acting, Huang said.
