SHENZHEN S first community-level safety education center started a trial operation Wednesday in a residential property in Xiangmihu in Futian District.
Costing more than 9 million yuan (US$1.36 million), the center employed a technology, such as a multi-media demonstration system, to teach people expertise in ensuring safety at home and in the open air, first-aid skills, as well as how to respond to natural disasters, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Thursday.
Accidents are demonstrated in animation to improve the awareness of safety.
During the trial operation, the center will be open to primary and middle school students, property management company staff, company safety supervisors and the general community.
The center is expected to eventually open to migrant workers.
Construction work on the center, which is also the first of its kind in southern China, started in May 2009 and ended in March last year.
