Checkpoint building

CONSTRUCTION of a temporary tourist inspection building at Wenjindu Checkpoint, which is under renovation, has been completed and is expected to open soon, according to the checkpoint.

Volleyball courts

PART of the beach at the Dameisha park in Yantian District would be closed for the construction of beach volleyball courts for the Universiade, Games organizers said. Construction of 10 temporary Universiade venues was due to be completed before June 30.

Enterprise award

THE Yantian District Government has awarded a total of 13 million yuan (US$1.97 million) to 18 enterprises in the district for their outstanding contribution to economic development in the past five years.

The district government has spared no effort in inviting leading enterprises to set up headquarters in the district to boost the economy.

Leprosy patients

SIXTEEN cases of leprosy were diagnosed in Shenzhen last year, the city commission of health, population and family planning said.

A total of 662 leprosy patients were recorded in the city from 1952 to December 2010, according to the commission. Of these, 70 were still receiving treatment.
