Bus route dispute
EMPLOYEES of Wenfeng Co. in Bao an District blocked a bus terminal in Shajing in Bao an with their vehicles in a compensation dispute Sunday. Nearly 100 buses on seven routes inside the terminal were affected.
The company, the contractor for some of the bus routes, claimed the West Bus Group owed it more than 10 million yuan (US$1.52 million) after the routes were taken over by the bus group in January last year.
The blockade caused the suspension of buses for more than four hours and forced the transport authority to deploy another 60 buses for the affected routes.
Worker death
A WORKER died in a fall from the 18th floor of a Shixia Share Holding Co. building in the Shixia community in Futian District on Sunday.
The man, Yang, a native of Sichuan, was preparing to clean the exterior wall of the building when a rope supporting the platform he was working from suddenly loosened, causing him to fall.
Bus collision
A TOTAL of 14 passengers were injured in a collision between two buses at a bus stop near Shihua Building on Huafu Road in Futian District on Sunday.
According to the driver of a route 320 bus, his bus hit a 301 route bus as it approached the bus stop.
Truck death
A WOMAN was killed and a man seriously injured when a cement mixer truck overturned on Honghu Flyover on Nigang Road in Luohu District on Sunday.
The two were later confirmed to be a father and daughter. According to a witness, the truck rolled on the man in his 50s and the woman passenger as they were riding to work on an electric bike at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
