Cross-border bus
WENJINDU Bus Terminal will open a direct bus route from Luohu to Sheung Shui, Hong Kong via Wenjindu Checkpoint tomorrow for a fare of 20 yuan (US$6). Passengers can arrive in the northern Hong Kong town in 15 minutes. This was the first passenger bus to use Wenjindu, which was mainly used for cargo, the Shenzhen transport commission said yesterday.
Wenjindu Checkpoint is being upgraded to expand access for passengers. The work will be finished in 2012.
Park traffic control
A TRAFFIC control will be imposed at Shenzhen Botanic Gardens during the Spring Festival holidays. All vehicles entering the park from Feb. 2 to 4 were required to exit through the north gate, the park administration office said. There are about 1,000 parking spaces available in the park.
Binhe Road facelift
WORK would start on upgrading Binhe Road, Minzhi Road and Hongli Road this year, a meeting of Shenzhen transport commission was told Monday. The meeting did not give a schedule. The work would be done at night to avoid traffic disruption, the meeting was told.
Train tickets
HOLIDAYMAKERS buying tickets from Feb. 2 won t necessarily need to present their IDs, Guangzhou Railway Group said. By Sunday, 4.48 million tickets had been sold and 3.5 million had been collected, the group said.
Employer on the run
POLICE are searching for a garment factory owner who fled owing more than 1 million yuan (US$151,515) in back wages and payment to his suppliers. The man allegedly failed to pay his 50 workers their salaries for two months.
