THE consumer price index (CPI) in Shenzhen rose 4.8 percent year-on-year in December, 0.1 percent higher than in November.
Food prices rose by 11.3 percent in December compared with the same period last year. Prices rose for cigarettes, clothing, home medical apparatus and entertainment by 2 to 6 percent, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Statistics Bureau.
The cost of transport and telecommunications fell slightly.
China s CPI increased by an average of 3.5 percent for the year. Food prices rose 7.7 percent last year, while health care products rose by 4.6 percent, the National Statistics Bureau said.
