Overseas flights
SHENZHEN airport will add 32 overseas flights between Jan. 28 and Feb. 8 to ensure there are enough flights during the Spring Festival. Flights will be added from Shenzhen to Taipei, Sapporo and Aomori in Japan, and Auckland in New Zealand.
China Southern Airlines will operate two temporary flights to Sapporo on Feb. 2 and 6 and two to Aomori on Feb. 4 and 8. The flight to Auckland will depart Shenzhen on Feb. 4 and return Feb. 6.
There will be 22 additional flights between Shenzhen and Taipei during the holidays. Shenzhen Airlines will add one flight a day between Jan. 28 and Feb 1, and Feb. 7 and 10. China Airlines would operate four flights during the holidays, the airport said yesterday.
Metro hours extended
SHENZHEN Metro will extend Line 1 train services to midnight during the Spring Festival holidays between Jan. 30 and Feb. 2 and Feb. 7-9, Metro sources said Thursday. Services on Metro lines 2 and 3 remained unchanged, the company said.
Hospitals warned
THREE hospitals, including Heping Hospital in Luohu District, Dongli Hospital in Bao an District and Bantian Hospital in Longgang District, failed to meet the city service standards and were warned by the health department, according to an evaluation report released by the health authorities Thursday.
They were ordered to improve patient services by the authorities. Bantian Hospital, which was also disqualified last year, could be suspended if it failed to meet the standards next year. Hospital service levels have improved since last year. Shenzhen People s Hospital in Luohu District, Shenzhen No. 2 People s Hospital and Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital in Futian District, all received A-level evaluations.
Bus thieves
A YOUNG man was recently arrested for allegedly stealing from travelers luggage on an airport shuttle bus, Bao an police said.
The man, identified only as Wang, 17, allegedly had an accomplice only 1.2-m tall hidden in a suitcase when he boarded the airport shuttle bus at the Hualian Building in Futian District. The accomplice, identified as Wu, 15, allegedly crawled out of the suitcase and stole valuables from passengers luggages. Wu was not arrested because he is minor.
