Fake silver

NEARLY 2,000 pieces of fake silver accessories were seized Sunday at the city s annual Spring Festival flower fair on Aiguo Road in Luohu District.

The accessories, which were made of cobalt copper, were priced at several hundred yuan apiece, but were worth no more than 10 yuan (US$1.52), said a market supervision bureau official, who gave only his family name, Zhang. It is the first time accessories have been sold at the flower market, which started 30 years ago.

Rabbit stamps

STAMPS featuring the year of the rabbit have sold out three weeks after they were first issued Jan. 5. The stamps are now being re-sold at five times their face value. China issues stamps at the beginning of each year featuring the animal representing that year in the Chinese zodiac.
