Kitchen fire
AN electrical short circuit caused a fire in an apartment kitchen in Daxin Village in Nanshan District on Sunday. No casualties were reported. The fire was put out in half an hour.
Phone theft
FUTIAN police detained four suspects who allegedly stole almost 600 mobile phones worth more than 450,000 yuan (US$68,267) from a warehouse in Huaqiangbei in December last year. Police recovered 108 stolen phones.
Woman killed
A SANITATION worker was killed when she was knocked down by a car on Bao an Boulevard on Sunday. The worker, surnamed Wu, was sweeping the road when the accident happened. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
Smuggled seafood
BORDER police seized 102 cartons of seafood including lobsters and oysters from suspected smugglers in two separate cases Monday.
The seafood was estimated to be worth about 500,000 yuan.
