IT summit
THE 2011 China IT Summit will be held in Shenzhen on March 28, a news conference was told yesterday.
More than 60 IT leaders in China will attend the summit which is organized by the city government and the Digital China Confederation. The IT leaders include Ma Yun, CEO of Alibaba, Ma Huateng, chairman of Tencent, Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo, and Li Yanhong, CEO of Baidu. The official Web site: www. itsummit.com, was also launched.
Site faces punishment
THE OCT Bay project, which is under construction, was ordered to halt work for two months for poor work practices. This was the first order imposed by the city construction bureau this year. Baishi Road in front of the construction site had been covered in mud from the construction site.
Agency suspended
A JOB agency in Gongming Subdistrict, Guangming New Zone, was suspended for inflating introduction commission for jobseekers.
According to the rule, job agencies can only charge jobseekers 10 yuan (US$1.52) registration fee and a 100- to 200-yuan commission. But the agency was charging 300 yuan for introductions and refused to refund the money when candidates discovered they had been overcharged.
Woman survives fall
A YOUNG woman was seriously injured when she fell from the fourth floor of a building in Guangming New Zone yesterday. It was not immediately clear how she fell. The woman, whose identity was not known, hit the roof of a nearby single floor building before landing on the ground. She suffered bone fractures and hemorrhaging.
Fraud charges
A MAN was arrested over alleged stock fraud involving more than 10 million yuan (US$1.52 million) in Futian District. The man, identified only as Wang, allegedly attracted investment from more than 300 people by promising annual returns of up to 25 percent.
