WORK will start on the construction of the China Resources (Holdings) Co. Ltd. s headquarters in Shenzhen in April.
Located near the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center in Nanshan District, the building will be 460 meters, taller than the 441.8-meter Kingkey 100, which opened last year, but lower than the 646-meter Shenzhen Ping An Finance Building, which is still under construction.
Kingkey 100 is the second-tallest building in China, after Shanghai World Finance Center which is 492 meters high.
Shenzhen has been a vital destination for its investment and source of profit, China Resources said. The company has 25 enterprises directly affiliated with it and the headquarters of 15 of them are in Shenzhen. By the end of last year, the enterprises had invested up to 47.5 billion yuan (US$7.23 billion) in Shenzhen, in sectors such as real estate, retail and finance.
China Resources said the design of the headquarters building would match the style of the sports center, which is also known as the Spring Cocoon. Construction of the Spring Cocoon was contracted by the Shenzhen government to China Resources in a BOT (build, operate and transfer) mode.
Covering 30 hectares, the sports center is estimated to cost 2.5 billion yuan. (SD News)
