A/H1N1 flu
THE Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau had detected 230 cases of A/H1N1 flu in the city s nine checkpoints since the start of the year until Tuesday.
Tests show the flu virus had not mutated and seasonal flu virus was prevailing in South China and Southeast Asian countries.
The majority of people diagnosed with A/H1N1 at the checkpoints were aged between 6 and 44.
Extortion
A DRUG addict had been detained for trying to extort money from car owners after stealing their license plates, Bao an police said Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Zhu, told police he needed money to buy drugs.
Sewage treatment
CONSTRUCTION of seven sewage treatment plants in Shenzhen will be finished by the end of March. The plants will be operated on a trial basis at the end of May, according to the government.
IPR protection
HUANGGANG Customs detected more than 220 infringements of intellectual property rights (IPR) in 2010, customs said Wednesday. More than 1.7 million yuan (US$258,600) was estimated to be involved.
New roads
NANTONG Boulevard and Bixin Road in Longgang District have opened to traffic, making it easier for motorists to travel from the district center to Longgang Subdistrict and easing traffic congestion.
Subsidized homes
GUANGMING New Zone plans to build 2,850 government-subsidized apartments for low-income families this year. The government will build 13,539 subsidized apartments in the new zone in 2012 and 2013.
