A NEW hospital would open in Bao an District in 2014, the city s health department said Tuesday.
Xin an Hospital, which will be the second-biggest hospital in the city, was designed for at least 1,000 beds and the outpatients department would be able to treat 4,000 patients a day, yesterday s Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
Situated in the coastal area of the Bao an CBD, the hospital covers 80,034 square meters and was costing 910 million yuan (US$138 million).
It would be served by Metro lines 1, 5 and 11.
Meanwhile, Shenzhen s biggest hospital, Binhai Hospital in Nanshan District, would be completed this year. There are plans to build seven hospitals between now and 2015.
The new hospitals would be mainly in Bao an and Longgang districts. They would include two new public children s hospitals in Longhua in Bao an District and Longcheng in Longgang District. A rehabilitation hospital would be opened in Nan ao in Longgang District.
In another development, Nanshan District People s Hospital was recently approved by health authorities to become a 3A hospital, which was the first district-level 3A hospital in the city, Zhang Deren, president of the hospital, said Tuesday.
Although the hospital was upgraded, the medical fees will be the same as before, he said.
Shenzhen now has four 3A hospitals. The other three are Shenzhen People s Hospital in Luohu District, Shenzhen No. 2 People s Hospital and Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Futian District.
Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital, another major hospital in the city which is also located in Futian, is applying to become a 3A hospital.
To date, 3A hospitals are China s highest level hospitals. (Wang Yuanyuan)
