Festive flowers
POTTED flowers bought during the Chinese Lunar New Year will be collected for recycling in Luohu District. Officials with the district urban management authority said mid-March would be the peak time for recycling flowers. Property management companies can ask flower farmers or cleaning service companies to collect the discarded flowers.
Flight delay
FIFTEEN flights were delayed Tuesday at Shenzhen International Airport due to heavy fog in East China.
The longest delay was for a flight to Shanghai with passengers having to wait four hours before departure. Flights to Hangzhou and Nanjing were also affected.
New schools
SIX new schools will be opened in Bao an District this year, providing an extra 7,000 school places.
Factory fire
FIRE broke out in an unlicensed mobile phone battery factory in Bao an District on Tuesday. No casualties were reported.
The factory was housed in an old residential building in Longhua Subdistrict. Residents suspected the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit. The factory owner was taken in by police for questioning.
Illegal advertising
MORE than 5,900 illegal advertising billboards have been dismantled and 5,470 illegal banners removed in Luohu District since July last year in preparation for the Summer Universiade in August.
