School cameras
LONGGANG police had installed more than 5,000 monitoring cameras on roads near the district s 358 schools to ensure the safety of students.
In addition, more than 1,800 security guards had been employed at schools, Longgang police said Monday.
New car plates
A MAN surnamed Pan, a car dealer, received the first temporary plate for a new car in Shenzhen from police Monday.
Temporary plates for unsold cars can be used when car dealers take their cars for vehicle inspections. They will be valid for three months. Police will issue 5,000 temporary plates.
Bay landscaping
THE city s public works bureau had started work on the pavement for the Shenzhen Bay coastal belt and landscaping will start at the end of March.
The 11 kilometers of paving will be finished by the end of July in time for the opening of the Shenzhen Universiade, the bureau said.
Exchange center
WORK on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange operation center in Futian CBD will be finished in August next year.
The 46-story building will be the major stock transaction center for the exchange.
Man killed
A MAN was killed and his wife and child were injured when they were hit by a car on Shiguan Road in Longhua, Bao an District, on Monday evening. The family was walking in the middle of an intersection when they were hit, a witness said.
The man was killed instantly and his wife was in critical condition. The 1-year-old baby survived with bone fractures, according to Longhua Hospital.
Police were questioning the car driver.
