Cigarette smuggling
HUANGGANG Checkpoint Customs seized more than 700 smuggled cartons of cigarettes Sunday. The cigarettes were allegedly being carried in an outbound van.
Swindler caught
A MAN was recently detained for having allegedly swindled about 100,000 yuan (US$15,152) from jobseekers in Longgang, police said yesterday. The man allegedly told jobseekers he worked for the public security bureau and could help them land a job there. He disappeared after taking commissions from jobseekers.
