Air quality
A SERIES of strict measures would be implemented to ensure good air quality from July, according to the city environment commission.
The measures would include closing down companies that produce heavy pollution or are not using clean fuels.
Diamond smuggling
LUOHU Customs seized 1,581 karats of smuggled diamonds worth around 2 million yuan (US$304,200) Thursday, according to customs.
The diamonds were allegedly being carried by an inbound Hong Kong man, who was detained. An investigation is continuing.
Rare earth
HUANGGANG Customs last week for the first time seized smuggled rare earth metals weighing 700 kilograms.
The metals were allegedly discovered in outbound freight channel.
The department has launched an investigation.
