SHENZHEN has passed a regulation to standardize the installation of door signs to take effect next month.
The regulation specifies the way door signs should be numbered and installed, the Daily Sunshine reported.
Door signs should be placed at a height of 2.1 meters, according to the regulation. In addition, door signs should not be obscured by other buildings.
Special door sign designs would be allowed on buildings recognized by the government as cultural relics or outstanding historical buildings, according to the regulation.
A 100-yuan fine (US$15) would be imposed on individuals who intentionally obscured, damaged or smeared door signs, or removed them without government approval. Other offenders, including companies and social organizations, would be subject to a fine of 500 yuan.
Once installed, the door signs would be statutory address information for government departments. (Li Hao)
