Performers at Splendid China China Folk Culture Villages theme park in OCT, Nanshan District, attend a foundation laying ceremony for the construction of a miniature Ancient Tea Road, or southern Silk Road, yesterday. Occupying an area of 120,000 square meters, the foundation laying ceremony began a general facelift for one of the city s oldest theme parks.
The Ancient Tea Road stretched more than 4,000 kilometers connecting other provinces with Tibet. Tea, salt and cane sugar were transported to Tibet by horse over the mountainous road, which mainly crossed Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. Qiu Haibin
