Auto pay Metro fares
PHONE users can pay Metro fares with mobile phones which were embedded with chips supporting the payment system.
The system, which was being tested, would be in use at Metro stations before the opening of the Universiade in August, Li Luning, deputy Party chief of Shenzhen Metro Group said Saturday.
Residents won t need to buy a ticket or carry TransCards. The system could save on operation cost, said Li.
The system was jointly developed by the Metro Group and telecommunication operators including China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.
Free taxis
NEARLY 500 passengers took free taxis from Yunfa Group in the past three days, sources from Shenzhen transport commission said.
It was the seventh year the five taxi companies in the group had offered free rides to the needed at hospitals.
Since 2005, more than 1,200 taxi drivers have participated in the voluntary service. In March last year, more than 1,300 passengers were given free rides.
Dance lessons
THE Fuyong Migrant Workers Dance Troupe, which has been invited to perform at this year s CCTV Spring Festival gala, will give free hip-hop dance training for migrant workers and residents at the city s factories and residential communities on a regular basis. This would be their main activity after joining the city s association of volunteers Friday, the association said.
CUHK SZ campus
THE Shenzhen campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will be built in Universiade New Town in Longgang District, next to the Universiade Hill Park and the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology s new campus, the city education bureau said Friday.
