Children s park

CONSTRUCTION of a new children s park in Shenzhen is scheduled to be completed next month and opened to the public in August.

Occupying more than 180,000 square meters, Shenzhen Children s Amusement Park in Futian District will be three times the size of the Children s Park in Luohu District. It is being built on a narrow strip of land bordered by Qiaoxiang Road, Nonglin Road and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway. It is designed to accommodate up to 15,200 visitors at a time.

College expansion

SHENZHEN Institute of Information Technology plans to take in 10,000 students in two years and 15,000 students in five years. By 2015, the institute will offer 45 majors to cater for the development of Shenzhen s pillar industries such as information, finance, logistics and culture.

Heroin seized

SHENZHEN Customs seized almost 4 kilograms of heroin at Shenzhen International Airport last month. The heroin was found in inbound parcels.

Replica guns

A MAN went on trial Wednesday at Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court charged with smuggling replica weapons.

The defendant, surnamed Ye, commissioned a company to make customs declarations for the export of plastic goods for decoration. An examination by Dapeng Customs in November 2009 revealed replica guns which were confiscated.
