A doctor and nurse from Shenzhen Armed Police Hospital examine children s ears in a kindergarten Wednesday, the day before the 12th Ear Care Day in China. Some 40 percent of newborns were not screened for hearing because of a low awareness by parents and the large floating population in the city, doctors at Shenzhen Women and Children s Health Care Hospital said.
