ATM damaged
CHARGES have been brought against a man who allegedly damaged an ATM after failing to get cash from the machine.
The suspect, Mo, went to withdraw money from the ATM in Dalang Subdistrict, Bao an District, on Nov. 12 last year. After failing to get cash, he kicked the machine and then struck it with a stone, causing direct economic losses of 9,609 yuan (US$1,464). Mo was detained by police for vandalism in January.
Over-defense
A MAN went on trial at Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court on Monday on charges of intentional harm.
The defendant, Zhang Huirong, suspected he had been defrauded by a job agency and went to get back 240 yuan in commission. When he was refused, Zhang attacked two employees of the agency with a fruit knife, killing one and seriously injuring another.
Zhang pleaded guilty and admitted to over-defense during the court hearing.
Water leak
WATER leak in apartments has become one of the major headaches for homeowners in Shenzhen and a housing quality issue most complained about.
A water leak Web site at www.szfsxh.com has been launched in the city. Residents can go to the site to learn about prevention of water leak in apartments and how to file complaints.
Community parks
A TOTAL of 29 community parks will be built in Dalang Subdistrict, Bao an District, by 2015, the subdistrict office said. Under a plan to build an ecological Dalang, the subdistrict office also plans to increase the coverage of greenbelts to 45.8 percent of the total area in the subdistrict with the per capita green area reaching 16 square meters by 2015.
Cough syrup
A GROCERY store in Longgang District was shut down for selling cough syrup without authorization at the weekend. Law enforcement officers with the city drug administration seized hundreds of bottles of cough syrup.
Unlicensed buses
THE city transport commission said it had confiscated 55,683 vehicles for traffic violations, including 404 buses without licenses, since the start of the year.
The commission said it had increased its efforts to crack down on illegally operated vehicles this year. It said it would add more bus routes to help remove unlicensed buses from the road.
