A MAN was paid 34,000 yuan (US$5,178) more in compensation for further medical treatment with the help of Luohu Consumer Council on Monday.
The man, Peng, slipped and fell onto the ground after having dinner with friends in a restaurant in Xihui Building in Luohu District on Sept. 17. He told yesterday s Daily Sunshine that he had just walked out of the lift on the first floor when the incident happened.
Peng and his friends saw a cleaner sweeping the floor with a wet mop and there were no warning signs near the door of the elevator, the Daily report said.
Suffering from agonizing pain, Peng was taken to hospital where he was found to have a fractured patella. The medical treatment lasted for nearly four months.
Peng said the management of Xihui Building paid 6,000 yuan for his initial medical cost, but they had not paid a penny for further treatment, saying the cost would be covered by insurance payout.
With the mediation of Yang Jianchang, a deputy to the Shenzhen Municipal People s Congress and head of Luohu Consumer Council, the two parties to the dispute reached an agreement Monday and Xihui Building management has agreed to give Peng 34,000 yuan more to cover his medical expenses.
