A SUPERMARKET has appealed a Luohu court ruling demanding it to pay nearly 300,000 yuan (US$45,639) in compensation to a woman for her injuries in a fall.
The case was heard at Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court on Wednesday.
The woman, Liang, attended a sales promotion at A Best Supermarket in Luohu on Dec. 4, 2009. She arrived at the supermarket at 7 a.m. and when it opened at 8 a.m., people rushed forward, pushing Liang onto the ground.
Liang was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery to replace her hip joints with artificial ones, Thursday s Shenzhen Economic Daily reported. She was hospitalized for 50 days.
Liang brought A Best Supermarket to Luohu District People s Court, demanding more than 290,000 yuan in compensation for medical cost and mental trauma.
A Best appealed after the Luohu court ordered it to compensate the woman more than 180,000 yuan.
Liang, 63, attended Wednesday s court hearing and insisted that the supermarket should compensate her the sum as has been ordered by the Luohu court.
