NINE suspects went on trial at Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court on Wednesday for allegedly organizing mainland women to work as sex workers in Hong Kong.
The suspects included a Shenzhen woman and a Malaysian national.
Prosecutors said Dong Xinsheng and Wu Jianhui were responsible for recruiting and organizing the women to Hong Kong since September 2009.
They first arranged the women to stay in hotels in Luohu, and applied for Hong Kong travel permits before taking them to the SAR for sex service. They took commissions from the services. Some of the prostitutes had been repatriated to the mainland by May 2010.
The suspects smuggled some women who didn t have travel permits into Hong Kong through Shatoujiao.
Most of the suspects pleaded guilty, but Chen Ximei and Zeng Xiaomei were against the charge of organizing prostitution, saying they just helped transport the women to Hong Kong and they were not aware the woman were organized for prostitution.
