THE Metro Line 4 extension has started a test run and is due to go into operation by the end of June, according to the Shenzhen branch of HK-based MTR Corp., the operator of Line 4.
The 16-kilometer northward extension line starts from the Children s Palace Station in Futian District and ends at the Qinghu Station in Bao an District. Altogether, it takes in 10 stations.
The interior decoration of the stations on the extension line is near completion, according to MTR Shenzhen.
Having 15 stations, the 20.5-kilometer Metro Line 4 starts from the Futian Checkpoint Station, which connects with the Lok Ma Chau Metro Stop in Hong Kong.
In addition, Metro Line 4 meets Guangzhou-Hong Kong and Hangzhou-Shenzhen railways at the Shenzhen North Railway Station, which is expected to play an important role in connecting Shenzhen with hinterland cities.
The test run of the 23.6-kilometer Metro Line 1 extension is expected to start at the end of this month, which connects the city center with Shenzhen International Airport.
A total of 113 kilometers of Metro lines, covering 80 stations, are under construction in Shenzhen. They are scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
