Nanny crime
A FAMILY in Luohu District suffered a loss of 100,000 yuan (US$15,152) after the family s domestic helper disappeared Friday. The family hired the domestic helper just 10 days ago. They found 3,000 yuan cash and expensive wines had gone missing after returning home Friday evening. A police investigation showed the nanny had used a fake identification card. It is still under investigation.
Worker burnt
A CONSTRUCTION worker suffered a severe electrical burnt after he accidentally touched a high voltage wire in Longgang District yesterday.
The worker, 36, will probably have his left arm amputated, doctors said. The incident caused a blackout.
News briefing
UNIVERSIADE organizers have set up a 20-member team to conduct regular news briefing. The team will hold a news briefing every two weeks concerning each aspect of Universiade preparations. The team is going through training on news briefing.
Test run
TEST operation of the Universiade venues has started with the establishment of a 700-member venue operation team. There are 66 Universiade venues across the city, 22 of which were newly built.
