Tollgates to go
SHENZHEN will dismantle eight tollgates bordering Huizhou and Dongguan and on the provincial highways next month. Upgrading of 47 tollgates on expressways and landscaping freeways for the Universiade will also start.
Attacker detained
YANTIAN Police detained a woman who allegedly attacked a customs officer at Shatoujiao Checkpoint on Monday. The unidentified woman, 40, allegedly refused to let the officer inspect goods she carried. The officer suffered face and neck injuries.
More shelters
THE city would add 10 emergency shelters this year, taking the total number of temporary shelters in Shenzhen to 400. The locations of the shelters would be made public after they are decided and approved by the city government. About 140 of the 400 temporary shelters were in Bao an District, with 110 in Longgang District, 60 in Futian, 20 each in Nanshan and Luohu, and four in Yantian.
