THE Shenzhen transport authority will put an additional 3,293 buses on the road to accommodate an estimated 6.6 million commuters by July.
This will take the number of public transport buses to 14,000, city transport commission sources said yesterday.
The Eastern Bus Group in Longgang will add 1,960 buses including 268 hybrids and 76 buses powered solely by electricity.
The Eastern Bus Group will have some of the new buses in service by the end of this month.
We have purchased 337 buses and they will be ready soon. Negotiations for the remaining 141 hybrid buses are going smoothly, bus group manager Zhang said Monday.
