APARTMENTS in complexes failing to install solar heating systems or systems that are not up to standard will be banned from being put on the market, the city housing and construction bureau said.
All residential housing projects with stable demand for heating facilities were required to have solar heating facilities installed from December last year. The housing and construction bureau specified at the weekend that the requirement also applies to housing projects that were approved after Dec. 1 last year.
Buildings with no more than 12 floors will have solar heating facilities installed for all households. Buildings with more than 12 floors will have the facilities installed for households on at least 12 floors while the rooftops will be covered with solar panels except in areas reserved for firefighting facilities.
Residential housing projects with stable demand for heating facilities refer to dormitories, in-patient buildings at hospitals, apartment buildings, hotels, retirement homes and welfare centers, according to the housing authority.
Construction of housing projects will not be allowed to proceed if solar heating system is not included in the design or if the solar heating system does not meet the official requirements, housing officials said.
