CHINA Mobile users in Guangdong Province are now able to subscribe to the Shenzhen Daily Mobile News following a technical upgrade.
Shenzhen Daily Mobile News, the first English-language mobile newspaper in South China, was launched Nov. 1, 2009, initially accessible by China Mobile Shenzhen users only.
The third English mobile newspaper in China after Beijing and Shanghai, Shenzhen Daily Mobile News will serve more than 1.2 million expatriates in Guangdong, as well as a growing number of English learners.
The Mobile News, jointly produced by Shenzhen Daily and China Mobile, is aimed at providing a handy English information service for the province s growing population of expatriates.
It will also help Guangdong residents to improve their English through selected, condensed news stories, short jokes, English sayings and brain teasers.
It is sent to readers by multimedia message at around 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday.
Each multimedia package contains 15 to 20 news pieces, including the day s local, national and international news, with one or two pictures.
Latest news missed in the print edition will be added at the last minute before Mobile News is sent.
Each issue also includes a short joke, a brain teaser and a couple of English says, making Mobile News a handy and fresh tool for English learners. It also contains Shenzhen Essentials to enable expatriate readers to quickly learn more about the city.
China Mobile users in all Guangdong cities can subscribe by sending the letters KTXA to 106585720, for a monthly subscription of 5 yuan (US$0.76).
