SHENZHEN will build 240,000 low-priced homes using eco-friendly techniques to promote energy conservation.
The techniques will also be used in infrastructure, community and school construction, Vice Mayor Lu Ruifeng told the 7th International Convention on Intelligent and Green Building and Energy Conservation in Beijing.
Shenzhen is one of the country s pioneering cities on energy-saving architecture. Several green areas are being built in Guangming New Zone, Shenzhen University and Southern University of Science and Technology campuses and Taoyuanxincun.
Meanwhile, an affordable housing project in Longhua in Bao an District is also the country s first low-priced housing community built according to green standards. Eco-friendly housing will gradually become more common in other districts, yesterday s Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
