Juvenile smugglers

LUOHU Customs has uncovered 91 cases of smuggling involving juveniles under 16 this year, according to the department.

There were 67 cross-border students involved in the smuggling cases.

In the latest case, three cross-border students under 14 were caught carrying two smuggled iPads in their schoolbags March 18.

Mule smugglers

Luohu Customs detained eight mules people paid to smuggle goods in and out of Shenzhen, in a one-hour blitz Friday.

The customs anti-smuggling police seized smuggled goods worth around 500,000 yuan (US$76,260), including computers, mobile phones and milk powder, according to the department.

Games journalists

AROUND 50 young sports journalists from across the world will be invited to take part in a training camp before the Summer Universiade.

The journalists will become registered reporters of the Games, according to the event organizers.

Universiade interns

The Universiade organizers have started recruiting more than 200 interns from universities in Guangzhou.

The interns are expected to work as bilingual announcers, broadcasting instructors and ceremony masters during the Games.

Most of the candidates have working experience in the Guangzhou Asian Games.
