Metro test run
THE underground section of Shenzhen Metro Line 3 will begin a 3-month test run Wednesday.
The 16-kilometer section between Caopu in Luohu and Yitian in Futian has 14 stations.
The elevated section from Caopu to Shuanglong in Longgang District opened in December.
The entire 41-km line, also called Universiade Line, will open by June 30.

FAMILIES whose per capita monthly income is below 1,000 yuan (US$155) can apply for free legal aid from the Shenzhen Legal Aid Center.
The center is trying to extend legal aid to cover 60 percent of low-income families, according to a tele-conference Wednesday
Motorist sets record
LOCAL resident Liu Liqun was recently recognized by the China World Records Association for becoming the first person in China to drive to places inhabited by all 56 ethnic groups.
To welcome the Universiade, Liu drove 120,000 kilometers between June and October in 2010 and visited the 56 ethnic groups and collected 56 samples of soil.
Liu is now planning to travel to all five continents to visit every city that has ever held the Universiade.
Police imposters
THREE people were arrested Wednesday for stealing from truck drivers by posing as police officers checking vehicles.
Wearing police uniforms and with false police IDs, the suspects intercepted a truck near the Futian Tollgate on Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway on March 9. They stole US$20,000 and 3,000 yuan and electronic products worth 100,000 yuan from the Hong Kong truck driver, police said.
