THE winding road along the Mt. Wutong connecting Liantang and Yantian will be turned into a greenway for hiking and leisure, the Shenzhen transport authority said yesterday.
The number of vehicles using the road is expected to fall sharply after the cancellation of the Mt. Wutong Tunnel tollgate fees from yesterday. The 6.14-km road would become a two-lane road with a 2.6m wide greenway on one side, the transport commission said yesterday.
The greenway would start from Shenyan Road, linking Xiantong Sports Park, and end at Shensha Road. It would connect with the Yantian coastal road.
Four rest stations would be set up at 1-km intervals along the greenway.
Residents could take buses to the greenway and private motorists could park their cars at the Xiantong Sports Park.
