TWO passengers fainted when they were stuck on board a delayed flight to Chongqing for several hours at the Shenzhen airport on Saturday, yesterday s Daily Sunshine reported.
The conditions of the two passengers were not known but Sichuan Airlines said they and other passengers would be paid 200 yuan (US$31) each for the delay.
About 180 passengers were booked to fly from Bao an International Airport to Chongqing on Sichuan Airlines at 9:35 p.m., Saturday, but ended up being stranded at the airport for 13 hours. The flight left Shenzhen at 10:30 a.m., Sunday.
We were told the flight was delayed, but nobody explained anything. The flight arrived at the airport at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday. We were told to board, but the plane did not take off, a passenger identified as Xiong said.
Flight attendants told them the flight could not take off due to the bad weather in Chongqing, but passengers who called the meteorological station were told the weather was good for flying.
We asked to meet the captain, but he called us hijackers. Many children were hungry, but they refused to provide any food. At about 4 a.m., two passengers fainted, Xiong said.
It was outrageous. Their attitude was bad. We want the airline to apologize and compensate every passenger, another passenger said.
Sichuan Airlines said the flight was delayed due to bad weather and passengers could complain to the headquarters. Staff on the flight could not be reached, the paper said. (Wang Yuanyuan)
