Ferry rescheduled

THE weekend 7:45 a.m. ferry from Shekou to Central in Hong Kong would be rescheduled to depart at 9 a.m. from Friday, according to the Shekou frontier inspection station.

The weekend 9 a.m. ferry from Central to Shekou would depart at 10 a.m. from Friday.

Park facilities

SHENZHEN Children s Park in Luohu District has suspended facilities that have outlived their service life, according to the urban management bureau.

The park would install new entertainment facilities and renovate existing ones.

Two new facilities are due to open in June.

Games souvenirs

THREE gold Universiade souvenirs have gone on sale. The souvenirs include gold plates, gold bars and badges.

Universiade tours

THE city tourism bureau has sent representatives to attend exhibitions in India, Berlin and Paris to promote the Universiade in Shenzhen in August.

At least 10 overseas travel agencies intended to visit Shenzhen to seek cooperation with local tour agencies.

Truck overturns

A FREIGHT truck carrying plastic cloth overturned near the Qinghu Flyover on Jihe Expressway on Monday afternoon, causing a traffic jam that lasted for almost six hours.

The cabin of the truck was severely damaged, witnesses said. Vehicles could only use the emergency lane on the expressway after the incident. Traffic flow returned to normal at 9 p.m.

Police are investigating.

Housing sales

A TOTAL of 2,418 new and pre-owned apartments were sold in Shenzhen last week, a drop of 5.55 percent compared with the previous week. It was the third consecutive week apartment sales had decreased since the beginning of the month.

An average of 345 apartments were sold each day last week, twice the number for February but 80 percent of the number recorded last year.

Law college

AUTHORITIES in Shenzhen plan to establish a college to train lawyers in Shenzhen, the second meeting of the 7th congress of local lawyers was told.

Preparations are expected to be finished in two to three years and efforts will be made to try to make it a nationally reputable college. Eminent scholars and veteran lawyers from home and abroad will be invited to teach at the college.
