Illegal vehicles
THE city transport authority confiscated 475 vehicles involved in illegal business this year. The vehicles included private cars, illegal buses and taxis with false vehicle plates. The transport commission also confiscated 8,031 motorcycles and electric bikes involved in illegal business.
Car pileup
SEVEN vehicles piled up on Hongli Road West in Futian District yesterday when one of the vehicles lost control. The car was seriously damaged and caused a taxi to catch fire. No one was injured.
Lufthansa cargo
A LUFTHANSA Cargo MD-11 from Frankfurt on its maiden flight arrived in Shenzhen early yesterday morning, beginning a new chapter in Shenzhen s international cargo service.
Lufthansa will operate three flights between Shenzhen and Frankfurt. Shenzhen is the fifth cargo destination Lufthansa had opened in China, following Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangzhou. Cargo turnover at the Shenzhen airport was 809,000 tons in 2010, an increase of 33.6 percent compared with 2009.
Cigarettes seized
HUANGGANG Customs seized more than 9,700 cartons of contraband cigarettes Monday, the department said yesterday. The seizure involved 10 domestic and international brands. The department has uncovered 10 cases of cigarette smuggling since the beginning of the year.
