Children from poor families with thalassemia after receiving fuel cards Sunday. A total of 40 thalassemia children received the cards, which will give each of them access to 12 free blood transfusions. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder. The fuel-card drive, launched in 2003, aimed at funding medical treatment for disadvantaged children with donations from companies and individuals. Over the past eight years, beneficiaries have had access to more than 2 million milliliters of blood.
