THE construction of the city s outer ring expressway, the city s longest, will start by the end of this year and be finished in 2015.
The 92.86-km expressway includes a 76.04-km section in Shenzhen and a 16.82-km section in Dongguan.
The six-lane expressway will link the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Coastal Expressway in Bao an in the west and run eastwards to meet the Yanba Expressway. The expressway will pass through four districts in the city s north including Bao an and Longgang. The 15.9-billion yuan (US$2.43 billion) east-west trunk road will connect to national highways and a dozen expressways including the Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Nanguang, Longda, Meiguan, Huiyan, Shenshan expressways.
It will play an important role in the economy of Shenzhen and neighboring Huizhou and Dongguan. (Han Ximin)
