Cheaper luxury goods?

Cheaper luxury goods?

Many reports showed that a large number of Chinese mainlanders go to HK, US and other countries and regions to buy luxury goods due to the big discounts. For example, you can buy half-price Gucci bags in HK during the year-end big-sale season, and of course, the world financial crisis also helped to lower the originally too high prices of these merchandise. The reports said that some mainland women bought several bags with the famous brands by using credit card and cheered for the relatively low prices, that's about 5,000 RMB per each. My, I cannot afford it even with the half-price! My monthly salary is only about 3,000 yuan.
Another news report read that Chinese mainlanders bought Nike shoes and clothes with only 20-30 dollars (140-210RMB), rather than 500-600 RMB in Chinese Nike shops.
However, my colleague advised me to go with her to HK to buy skin-care products because she can find many brands which cannot be found in mainland and get them with reasonable prices. I think girls like us can only buy those goods since they're not too expensive at the very beginning.
What do you think about it? Is it a better choice to go to other regions and countries for cheaper products? I'm afraid that China will face much more challenges from the financial slowdown next year and people won't have much power to buy luxury goods then. Do we need to grasp the "last" chance to do so this year?
