China: Anti-dumping is the Biggest Trade Barrier for Textile Export

According to Ministry of Commerce, the licenses for export of textile and clothes to the US and EU is going to cancel by Jan. 1, 2009. This means the export of Chinese textile and clothes has no quota limitation next year.
In year 2005, with the abolishment of MFA, Chinese textile export had a sharp growth. To regulating the market, Chinese government signed agreements with the US and EU to set a buffer period as two years and three years respectively.
While the industry watcher said even there was no quota limitation, the various non-tariff barriers, anti-dumping measures and regional trade union system could still baffle Chinese textile export. Since the export licenses are going to cancel, the export market might have another soar which could give an excuse for the US and EU governments to work out new trade barriers.
